A 37-year-old German mountaineer was killed on Thursday, July 23, 2026, during a combined mountain biking and mountaineering tour in the Karwendel in the municipality of Eben am Achensee in Tyrol, when she fell approximately 60 meters through a scree gully on the east side of the 2,106-meter Montscheinspitze.
Course of the Tour
The woman had set out on the morning of Thursday, July 23, 2026, for a combined mountain biking and mountaineering tour in the Karwendel (municipality of Eben am Achensee, Tyrol). She first rode her bike to the Plumsjochhütte, from where she continued on foot to ascend the 2,106-meter Montscheinspitze. At around 10:30 a.m., the mountaineer sent one last sign of life and contacted her relatives.
