Damage in Sieghartsles and Weinern

In the neighboring town of Sieghartsles, the forecourt of the fire station was flooded, according to the report from the District Fire Brigade Command. According to the fire brigade, the extent of the damage was regionally limited but affected several infrastructure facilities.

The Groß-Siegharts-Stadt fire brigade pumped out the water and thereby prevented further damage to the underground parking garage. According to the District Fire Brigade Command, without the rapid deployment of the response forces, the technical room of the garage would have remained under water even longer. The property damage to the affected infrastructure remained, according to initial assessments, manageable.

The authorities advise not parking vehicles in underground parking garages during thunderstorm fronts and securing basements in good time. The District Fire Brigade Command of Waidhofen an der Thaya pointed to the importance of volunteer response forces in coping with such events.

The report from the District Fire Brigade Command did not mention any injuries. The cleanup work in the affected localities continued on Wednesday morning. According to the response forces, the weather situation had since calmed down, and further precipitation was not initially expected.
