The 36-year-old Jordan Henderson of Brentford FC injured his wrist during the celebrations following England's 3-2 (2-1) victory over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium and is unavailable for the World Cup quarterfinal against Norway on Saturday (11:00 PM/MagentaTV) in Miami.
The English national team secured a hard-fought victory over Mexico in the 2026 World Cup round of 16, but the joy of advancing to the last eight was overshadowed by an unfortunate fall by Jordan Henderson. The 36-year-old, who is under contract with Brentford FC, slipped over a barrier while celebrating in front of the Three Lions fans and sustained a wrist injury, according to reports.
According to available information, Henderson was carried on a stretcher into the catacombs of the Azteca Stadium and subsequently taken to a hospital. England's coach Thomas Tuchel spoke of a "ziemlich schwere Verletzung" and expressed regret that his experienced player could not celebrate with the team. Exactly how the midfielder sustained the injury has not yet been conclusively clarified; what is certain, however, is that the injury is serious enough to sideline him for the upcoming match.
