More than 100,000 people on Monday in Oslo celebrated the Norwegian national football team after its elimination in the World Cup quarterfinals, first welcoming the team at King Harald's palace.
The players landed at Gardermoen Airport and were escorted from there to the Royal Palace in Oslo. On the square in front of the palace and along the route to University Square, according to unofficial estimates more than 100,000 fans gathered, with some sources putting the crowd at around 88,000 people on the 450-meter stretch between the palace and University Square alone.
At the palace, the squad was first received in an audience with King Harald. The team then appeared in front of the cheering supporters, flanked by the Royal Guard. „Die Mannschaft wurde zunächst zu einer Audienz bei König Harald empfangen“, heißt es in Berichten über das Programm.
