Icelandic police on Wednesday deported 21 activists who, aboard the ship "Bandero," allegedly carried out hunt-disruption actions off Iceland's coast, a police spokesperson told AFP.
The authorities also imposed a minimum two-year entry ban for the entire Schengen Area. A police spokesperson told AFP that all crew members of the seized vessel had been deported.
The deportations are linked to actions targeting Iceland's commercial whaling fleet, which has once again significantly increased its quota this year. In recent weeks, environmental organizations have repeatedly sent vessels close to Icelandic whaling grounds to document and interrupt the hunts.
