Focus on Germany and Belgium

Germany was the most affected country according to the report, with 58 incidents, including six unexplained incidents over the US Air Force base Ramstein as well as the Bundeswehr facilities in Manching and Neuburg an der Donau. Belgium ranks second with 25 incidents, where, among others, the Kleine-Brogel air base — where nuclear weapons are stored — became a target.

Nearly half of the incidents occurred at military facilities and roughly 20 percent at civilian airports, many of which had to temporarily suspend operations. A good quarter involved critical infrastructure such as ports, energy facilities, and industrial sites.

Launches from Shadow Fleet Ships

The unmanned aerial vehicles were reportedly launched from tankers of the Russian "shadow fleet," freighters near the coast, and smaller watercraft. This launch method complicates traceability and poses new challenges for Western air defenses.
