Several international gambling groups have criticized the planned provisions in connection with the ongoing reform of Austria's concession regime and have submitted their positions on taxes, transition periods, and player protection.
The Chamber of Commerce had invited stakeholders to submit comments, during which international providers such as Entain, Bet-at-home, Kaizen Gaming, FDJ United, and QLot Consulting voiced their concerns about parts of the reform. The focus was on future concession requirements, tax regulations, and technical specifications for player protection and gameplay.
A recurring point of criticism concerns the planned 24-month transition period, which several applicants argued should be shortened. The Chamber of Commerce noted in this context that individual voices were calling for a reduction to one year. Bet-at-home also pointed to the absence of a cut-off date for the declaration of conformity, without which it remains unclear when the requirements for a concession can actually be met.
