Balve, June 7, 2026
Isabell Werth has won her 19th and 20th national titles at the German Dressage Championships in Balve, taking the Grand Prix Special on Saturday and the Freestyle (Kür) the following day.
Double Victory on Saturday
The eight-time Olympic champion Isabell Werth dominated the national championship in Balve. As reported by the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the 56-year-old from Rheinberg secured victory in both the Grand Prix Special and the Freestyle with her two top horses. Werth thus collected two more German championship titles in a single weekend, further extending her already record-breaking collection.
Already on Saturday, Werth even achieved a double success in the Grand Prix Special. On her successful horse Wendy, she dominated with 81.510 percentage points. With Viva Gold (77.823), she also took second place in the test. However, only the result with the best-placed horse counted for the championship classification – and that was clearly Wendy.
