A 21-year-old man with Lebanese roots drove a minibus into a crowd on the sidelines of Christopher Street Day in Berlin late on Saturday evening, killing one woman and seriously injuring 29 others; the suspected perpetrator was shot dead on Sunday evening during a police operation in Berlin-Spandau.

Sequence of Events in the Tiergarten

According to current findings, the 21-year-old drove a delivery van into visitors of the Christopher Street Day parade in Berlin's Tiergarten on Saturday at around 10 p.m. The vehicle traveled approximately 450 meters into the park before crashing into a tree. One woman died at the scene, and 29 other people were injured, several of them seriously or with life-threatening injuries. According to police, the incident occurred near Potsdamer Platz, not far from the Brandenburg Gate.
