Jerusalem, 28 May 2026
Israel will cut all contact with the office of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, the country's UN ambassador announced on Thursday, in response to the UN's decision to place Israeli security forces on a list of parties committing sexual violence in conflict.
Ambassador Danny Danon confirmed the diplomatic break on the social media platform X, stating the decision was a direct reaction to Israel's inclusion in the UN's annual report on conflict-related sexual violence. "We have had enough of this Secretary-General," Danon wrote.
The report, according to Israeli media, includes the Israel Prison Service on its 2026 list. Danon described the move as "scandalous," writing, "The decision to blacklist Israel and accuse us of using sexualized violence as a weapon of war is scandalous."
