Beirut, Lebanon — May 11, 2026

Israeli airstrikes killed 22 people in Lebanon on Wednesday, including eight children, as tensions escalate ahead of a ceasefire expiration brokered by the U.S.

Escalation Along the Border

The Israeli military attacked approximately 40 targets in southern and eastern Lebanon, according to the official NNA news agency. Among the casualties were two paramedics killed and one injured in southern Lebanon. Israel's army stated it is investigating allegations of the attack on medical personnel. "Israels Armee sagte auf Anfrage, sie gehe den Vorwürfen nach," a military spokesperson said.

Hezbollah retaliated by launching drones toward Israel, some of which were intercepted. "Die israelische Armee meldete am Vorabend unterdes Drohnenangriffe der Hisbollah. Mehrere Drohnen wurden den Angaben zufolge abgefangen, ehe sie nach Israel drangen," Israeli officials reported. Explosive-laden drones detonated near the Lebanese border but caused no injuries.
