Purkersdorf, July 6, 2026

Jasmin Klemmer-Schlögl was elected the new mayor of the Lower Austrian town of Purkersdorf on Monday evening on her second attempt, receiving a clear majority.

In the vote in the Purkersdorf municipal council, Klemmer-Schlögl received 20 of the 29 votes cast. Her opposing candidate, ÖVP mandatary Martin Koller, received eight votes. One further vote was declared invalid. A total of 29 mandataries were present at the ballot.

Clear result in the municipal council

The election took place on a second attempt after an initial round of voting had apparently failed to produce the required majority. The candidate prevailed clearly in the renewed vote. With this result, Klemmer-Schlögl takes over the leadership of the town.

Klemmer-Schlögl thereby succeeds to the mayor's office of the Lower Austrian town. The swearing-in of the new head of the town was prepared in the council immediately following the vote. No further details were initially released regarding the future composition of the town and municipal council or regarding the planned political priorities.
