Authorities in the northern Italian seaside resort of Jesolo have established so-called Red Security Zones in the city center after a spike in violent incidents at the start of the summer season.

According to the authorities, the measure is a direct response to several violent incidents within just two weeks. APA reported on 13/6/2026 that the security zones were set up in the center of the Adriatic resort, which is popular with Austrian tourists. The aim is to "ensure the safe use of public spaces for residents and tourists and to visibly increase the presence of security forces."
