The Italian town of Lignano Sabbiadoro is preparing for the Pentecost weekend with tightened security measures to prevent alcohol-related excesses.
More than 80,000 tourists are expected in Lignano over the Pentecost weekend, including 20,000 from Austria. The town is responding with stricter regulations targeting the so-called 'Tutto Gas' parties, which have caused problems in recent years.
Mayor Laura Giorgi has signed an ordinance introducing earlier closing times for bars, restrictions on alcohol sales, and limits on music volume. "We are better prepared than ever," Giorgi said.
Security forces will be significantly reinforced. In addition to increased police and Carabinieri presence, private security services will also be deployed in public transport and high-traffic areas.
