Klagenfurt, May 14, 2026
Carinthian Hubert Dobrounig is the new president of the Austrian Table Tennis Association (ÖTTV) and will form a dual leadership with Rudolf Sporrer.
Long Night of Decisions
The ÖTTV general assembly in Klagenfurt, which began at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, did not conclude until after 1 a.m. The lengthy duration was partly due to amendments to the association's statutes. Dobrounig prevailed in a contested vote with 23:17 votes against Vienna's Rudolf Sporrer, who in turn secured a clear majority (29:11) for another role.
The 60-year-old Dobrounig, previously president of the Carinthian regional association, succeeds Wolfgang Gotschke, who resigned in March. In a statement, Dobrounig emphasized his goals: "Interests must be constructively aligned. I stand for a respectful and solution-oriented working foundation."
