Kärntner Dobrounig Elected as New ÖTTV President in Close Vote

The new president brings extensive experience in marketing, media, and communication, which he plans to leverage in his new role. Challenges Ahead

The election comes after a period of significant upheaval for the ÖTTV. Former president Gotschke stepped down in March, and Bundesliga chairman Günther Renner also resigned from his position. Gotschke acknowledged the need for change, saying, "Es muss ein Neuanfang gemacht werden."

One of Dobrounig’s first tasks will be to appoint a new sports director. "Dazu schreiben wir die Stelle des Sportdirektors aus und suchen nach einer bestmöglichen Lösung," he announced. David Huber, coach of the Wels team, has already been appointed as Renner’s successor in the Bundesliga role.

Controversial Past

The association’s recent struggles have not been limited to leadership changes. Allegations surfaced regarding the behavior of a former coach, with young female players claiming, "Er hat sich oft zu uns ins Bett gelegt," and accusing him of using training sessions as a pretext to "chillen" or discuss performance.

The coach was initially allowed to continue working until the sports ministry intervened, suspending him "bis zur Aufklärung der Sachlage." These incidents have further underscored the need for reform within the ÖTTV.
