Karlsruhe, 09 July 2026

The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe has rejected urgent motions filed by two members of the Bundestag against the legislative procedure for the health insurance savings law of the federal government. The motion was filed by one member each from the Greens and the Left.

This means the project can be passed in the Bundestag on the following day as planned and introduced to the Bundesrat on the same day, which is meeting for the last time before the summer recess on that day. The court announced: „Die Anträge auf Erlass einer einstweiligen Anordnung blieben ohne Erfolg."

Two members of the Bundestag from the Greens and the Left had filed the urgent motions because they considered the rushed legislative procedure impermissible. According to the court, an urgent motion from the AfD was ultimately not submitted. Shortly after the Greens announced their trip to Karlsruhe, the Left and the AfD also announced that they intended to approach the Federal Constitutional Court.
