Lars Klingbeil (SPD) wants to cut the Climate and Transformation Fund (KTF) by two to three billion euros per year as part of budget consolidation and partially redirect the funds to the core budget.
The draft for the 2027 federal budget and the financial plan through 2030, which the cabinet intends to pass on Monday, provides for two to three billion euros in revenue from the Climate and Transformation Fund (KTF) to flow into the core budget in 2027. „So sollen 2027 Einnahmen von zwei bis drei Milliarden Euro aus dem Klima- und Transformationsfonds (KTF) in den Kernhaushalt fließen“, the paper states. With this, the black-red coalition of CDU, CSU and SPD aims to close a gap of 34 billion euros in the existing financial planning.
Various subsidy programs are funded from the KTF – including, with billions in funding, the federal subsidy for efficient buildings. This program also subsidizes the purchase and installation of a new, climate-friendly heating system. Currently, switching to a climate-friendly heating system can receive state funding of up to 70 percent, with a maximum eligible investment cost grant of 21,000 euros.
