Following the Graz municipal council election, the KPÖ has launched coalition negotiations with the Greens in order to develop a joint program over the coming weeks.

The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) has opened talks with the Greens about a possible coalition following the municipal council election in Graz. KPÖ leader Elke Kahr confirmed this in a press release on Thursday. The goal is to quickly gain clarity on future cooperation in the city.

At the same time, Kahr stressed that the negotiations should not be conducted under time pressure. "Wir wollen die Verhandlungen zügig, aber ohne Zeitdruck führen", the KPÖ chair explained according to the press release. The aim is to give a carefully developed program priority over a swift conclusion.
