US billionaire Leon Black has refused to testify before the parliamentary investigative committee on the case of convicted US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, citing an ongoing lawsuit.

Leon Black's refusal to comply with the subpoena from the House of Representatives' Epstein investigative committee marks a new escalation in the disputes between Congress and prominent figures from the circle of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. According to the committee, Black, the former head of the investment firm Apollo Global Management, had been given multiple opportunities to testify voluntarily and still failed to appear.

Committee chair James Comer sharply criticized Black's behavior in a written statement. It was "regrettable that Leon Black is hiding behind a lawsuit instead of providing answers to the American people," the Republican said. Comer announced that the committee would continue its work investigating Epstein connections despite the resistance of individual witnesses.
