New York, 25 August 2026
A federal appeals court in New York has rejected Ghislaine Maxwell's motion to overturn her conviction in connection with the Epstein scandal, ruling that no substantial constitutional errors could be identified in the proceedings or in the sentencing.
Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in December 2021 of sexual abuse of minors and human trafficking, failed in her attempt to overturn the verdict through an appeal. The court with jurisdiction in New York has now upheld the original decision and rejected her attorneys' motion for a new trial. The 20-year prison sentence imposed on her therefore remains in full effect.
