Lightning strike triggers forest fire at Rogerkogel in Tyrol

The ground-based extinguishing teams were supported by a helicopter that dropped water from the air over the fire area. The deployment of vegetation firefighting specialists took place in addition to the regular fire brigade units from the Kufstein district.

The lightning strike occurred on the afternoon of 2 August 2026. The immediately alerted fire brigades from the Kufstein district and the vegetation firefighting specialists worked for several hours to contain the fire, according to the report.
