Lignano Deems 'Tutto Gas' Party Weekend a Success Despite Thefts and Public Disturbances

Police responded to a series of incidents, including excessive alcohol consumption, petty thefts, brawls, and noise disturbances, particularly in residential areas near the party mile.

Party Atmosphere Turns Rowdy

In some neighbourhoods close to the celebrations, glass bottles were reportedly thrown from balconies, forcing police to intervene multiple times to calm the situation.

Among the more serious cases, a 19-year-old Austrian was reported by the Carabinieri for carrying a folding knife with a 17-centimeter blade.

A 41-year-old man from the Friuli region was stopped while driving a Ferrari with Austrian license plates; he received an administrative penalty after a positive alcohol test, his driving licence was confiscated, and the vehicle was handed over to a towing service.

Fines were imposed on 14 Austrians for violations including playing loud music at night, indecent acts in public, and public urination, the authorities said.

Official Response Balances Incidents and Order

Despite these incidents, the city administration drew an overall positive balance. Security officer Alessio Codromaz stated the situation was 'besser kontrollierbar' (more controllable) compared to previous Pentecost weekends, and no hospital treatments were necessary.

A resident commented on Facebook: 'Auch dieses Jahr ist es zur Barbareninvasion gekommen. Die Gewinne bleiben bei den Lokalbetreibern, die Schäden trägt die Gemeinde Lignano: Ein fragwürdiges Geschäft'.

Cleanup and Future Precautions

Clean-up workers were deployed early Monday morning to clear the streets of bottles and plastic cups, and by mid-morning traces of the nighttime parties had largely disappeared, according to the municipality.

Looking ahead, authorities plan to deploy additional traffic management personnel and a breakdown service on the A23 Udine-Tarvisio motorway, a measure aimed at improving safety during mass arrival events.
