Linda Noskova won the women's Wimbledon final on Saturday against her Czech compatriot Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, claiming her first Grand Slam title.

Match summary and decisive moments

The match on Centre Court lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes. Noskova, 21 years and 236 days old, wrapped up the first set after just 31 minutes at 6-3 and surged to a 5-2 lead in the second. But Muchova saved five match points, took the second set 7-5, and forced a deciding third.

In the third set, the younger Czech kept the upper hand and, after a tactical exchange, finally converted her sixth match point with an ace. With the title, Noskova — who was ranked 12th in the world before the tournament — moves up to number seven on Monday.

Background: Muchova and the missed chances

For Muchova, it was the second defeat in a Grand Slam final: she had already lost the 2023 French Open final in Paris. She had also lost that Paris 2023 final to Noskova. At the start of July, she had warmed up on grass by winning her third career title in Bad Homburg — despite an allergy to grass.

Noskova avenged a third-round loss to Muchova at the 2025 US Open — their only previous meeting. The two players are doubles partners at the Olympic Games.
