Tens of thousands of people participated in two separate demonstrations in central London on Saturday, while police mounted their largest public order operation in years to manage the events alongside the FA Cup final.

Unprecedented Police Operation

London’s Metropolitan Police deployed 4,000 officers, along with horses, dogs, drones, and helicopters, to oversee the rival demonstrations and the football match at Wembley Stadium. A senior officer described the operation as "unprecedented," with costs estimated at up to 4.5 million British pounds (approximately 5.16 million euros).

The police effort aimed to prevent clashes between the two protest groups and manage the influx of tens of thousands of football fans attending the FA Cup final between FC Chelsea and Manchester City. Authorities emphasized that additional court capacities were on standby to handle any violence, with Justice Minister David Lammy warning of rapid legal action if disturbances occurred.
