Nuremberg, 05 July 2026
The 31-year-old Tyrolean Mercedes driver Lucas Auer finished third in the second DTM race at the Norisring in Nuremberg, continuing his podium streak in the current season.
Already on the previous day, Auer had finished fourth; now he improved by one position under changing conditions. A rain shower shaped the second race on the Nuremberg street circuit and demanded tactical skill from the drivers. At the finish, the Austrian ultimately trailed the dominant double winner Nicki Thiim, who claimed both Norisring races with Aston Martin.
For Auer, third place was a reason for joy given the circumstances. "P3 is like a victory, I'm very happy," he said after the race. Looking ahead to the rest of the season, the Mercedes driver showed himself both confident and patient: "We'll see, consistency is always good. But it's also important to win a few races now and then."
