France's President Emmanuel Macron has once again appeared wearing sunglasses indoors, which according to the Élysée Palace is due to a health issue.

Back in January, Macron had already caused a stir by wearing striking sunglasses even in closed rooms. At the time, US President Donald Trump had teased him about it, and in France people joked about parallels to Tom Cruise in the film "Top Gun." In the meantime, the accessory has become something of a cult object surrounding the head of state.

The manufacturer of the glasses, Henry Jullien, was able to reap significant benefits from the hype. The model became a much-noticed fashion accessory and was discussed internationally. The Jullien brand enjoyed sharply increased attention after Macron's first public appearances wearing the model.
