Major fire destroys outbuilding of nightclub in Eitzing – ten fire departments deployed

A few minutes after the initial alarm, alert level 2 was triggered because of the scale of the fire. When the first emergency crews arrived at the scene in Probenzing, „the wooden structure was already almost completely burnt out," as the operation report states. Flames shot out of the building, and dense smoke spread.

Water from multiple sources

A total of ten fire departments responded to the operation: Eitzing, Aurolzmünster, Asenham, Blindenhofen, Forchtenau, Mehrnbach, Weierfing, Wippenham, Ried im Innkreis, and Senftenbach. They set up several long hose lines to ensure the water supply at the scene. A pool in front of the nightclub, which could have served as an additional water source, was not filled at the time of the fire, as nightclub operations are currently limited.

„The ten fire departments ultimately succeeded in bringing the flames under control and preventing the fire from spreading to the nightclub itself," according to the emergency services' summary. As a result, the main building of the nightclub remained intact despite the immediate proximity of the burning outbuilding.

No injuries, cause unclear

Regarding the situation of those present, the fire department stated: „Although the fire broke out during regular opening hours, according to the fire department there were no guests in the premises." No one was injured, according to the emergency services. The circumstances – limited operations, an unfilled pool, no guests – likely prevented a worse outcome, in the fire department's assessment.

The cause of the fire remains unclear according to police and fire department. „Warum das Feuer ausgebrochen ist, ist derzeit noch unklar. Die Brandursachenermittlung läuft," the investigators said. Police have initiated corresponding investigations into the cause of the fire.

According to a fire department spokesperson, „insgesamt zehn Feuerwehren aus der Umgebung" were deployed. The outbuilding, a wooden barn, was completely destroyed by the full blaze; no figures were initially provided on the amount of property damage.

The scene of the fire is located in the Probenzing locality of the municipality of Eitzing in the Upper Austrian district of Ried im Innkreis. The emergency services expressly praised the quick alerting by the employee, which had made early firefighting possible in the first place.
