Mettmach, August 13, 2026
Sixteen fire stations were mobilized on the night from Wednesday to Thursday to fight a major fire in Mettmach, in the district of Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria, with the assistance of farmers from the area.
According to information provided by the emergency services, sixteen fire stations from the region converged on Mettmach, a municipality located in the district of Ried im Innkreis, to deal with a major fire. The alert was raised during the night, which required the simultaneous deployment of a large number of units in order to contain the spread of the flames.
Given the scale of the disaster, farmers from the municipality and surrounding areas spontaneously joined the operations. In particular, they provided slurry tankers (Jauchefässern) to facilitate the transport of water to locations difficult to access by conventional fire service vehicles. This cooperation between organized rescue services and the local population made it possible to bring large quantities of water to the site more quickly.
