On Saturday, at around 12:40 p.m., a major fire broke out in the sorting hall of a waste management company in Steyr-Hausleiten, Upper Austria, prompting multiple fire departments to respond.
According to initial information from the emergency services, the fire broke out on Saturday midday in the hall of a waste disposal company in Steyr-Hausleiten. The sorting hall, where waste is pre-sorted, was at the center of the blaze according to current findings. A black plume of smoke was visible over long distances, according to local residents.
The alerted fire departments arrived with a large contingent to bring the flames under control. The outbreak developed into a fully involved fire that engulfed the entire sorting hall, according to initial findings. Rescue and emergency services coordinated the measures on site while firefighting operations were underway.
