A man, approximately 40 years old, died in hospital on Thursday after a swimming accident at Vienna's Schafbergbad, having suffered a cardiac arrest.
On the early afternoon of Thursday, July 16, 2026, a 40-year-old man was found floating lifeless in Vienna's Schafbergbad. According to ORF Wien, staff at the outdoor pool noticed the 40-year-old man around 1 p.m. as he floated lifeless in the water.
Staff members of the swimming pool pulled the lifeless man from the pool on Thursday. They got him out immediately and began resuscitation measures, during which a defibrillator was also deployed.

As ORF is now reporting, the 40-year-old has since died in hospital. He was initially resuscitated but has now died in hospital. The man was flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter.
