Helicopter lands in the middle of the lawn

The ÖAMTC emergency medical helicopter "Christophorus 3" landed on the pool's lawn. The helicopter's emergency team took over care of the patient from the Samariterbund and flew him to a hospital. Johann Baumschlager confirmed the reports on Friday upon request.

The circumstances that led to the man losing consciousness are not known. The municipality spoke of an emergency whose exact background is still unclear. No further details about the patient's current state of health were initially released.

Mayor praises the pool team

Sabrina Divoky (SPÖ) came to the pool that same evening and thanked the entire pool team. "Ein großes Kompliment an das ganze Team", emphasized Sabrina Divoky. She highlighted that the rescue chain had functioned smoothly.

"Das ist sicher dem geschuldet, dass die ganze Rettungskette so schnell und reibungslos funktioniert hat", Sabrina Divoky was further quoted as saying. Irene Kari also underlined what ultimately matters: "dass der Mann überlebt hat".

Rare incidents at the Aquasplash

Petra Bauer, who has managed the pool, which also operates under the name Aquasplash, for 23 years, explained that during this time there had been only three emergencies. The municipality expressly thanked the bathers who had helped clear the landing area.

The incident underscores the importance of rapid first-aid chains in public pools. The interaction of attentive lifeguards, the Samariterbund and air rescue contributed crucially in this case to ensuring the man could be brought to hospital alive.

Police and the municipality announced that no further investigations into the circumstances would be conducted as long as there are no indications of third-party fault. The man is receiving further treatment at Wiener Neustadt hospital.
