Alcaniz, 30 August 2026

Marc Marquez won the Sprint at the MotoGP weekend in Alcaniz on Saturday and cut his deficit to championship leader Jorge Martin to 33 points.

Marc Marquez prevailed in the Sprint over the distance at Motorland Aragon and celebrated another success at his favorite track. The Spanish rider, who has already won seven races in Alcaniz, used the shorter race to make up important points on Jorge Martin, who leads the overall standings.

In the world championship, Marquez moved up to third place. The gap to Martin, who apparently was unable to win the Sprint, shrank to 33 points. The title fight therefore remains open ahead of the main race on Sunday, and the pressure on the leader is growing.

Championship standings after the Sprint

Marco Bezzecchi delivered a strong performance in the Sprint and mixed it at the front. The Italian, who rides for a manufacturer from the KTM sphere, is thus among the riders who can eye the podium in the main race. The presence of several riders from the KTM and Aprilia camps underscores the breadth of the field behind the leading trio.
