The Mexican Football Association has introduced Rafael Márquez as the new head coach of the national team, sealing the succession of Javier Aguirre, whose third tenure ended after the World Cup elimination against England.
The Mexican Football Association (FMF) resolved the coaching question just a few days after the Round of 16 exit from the World Cup. Rafael Márquez, previously serving as an assistant coach, will become the new head coach of the Mexican national team, replacing Javier Aguirre. The association described the change as part of an orderly transition. The official statement read: "Die Ernennung von Rafael Márquez ist Teil eines geordneten Übergangs".
