The 25-year-old Lower Austrian defender Martin Moormann moves from Bundesliga relegated side Blau-Weiß Linz to Scottish Premiership club Motherwell FC, where he has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further season.
Born in Sierndorf, Martin Moormann, most recently active for Blau-Weiß Linz, is turning the next chapter of his career in Scotland. As the club announced on Friday, the centre-back is moving to Motherwell FC, who finished last season in the Scottish Premiership in fourth place in the table. The contract runs for two years, and the club also holds an option for a third season.
At the traditional club from the town of Motherwell, located around 25 kilometres south-east of Glasgow, Moormann will meet a coach who has already been watching the ÖFB national team player closely. Motherwell coach Alfred Johansson expressed his conviction about the qualities of the new signing in an initial statement: "Dank seiner Schnelligkeit und körperlichen Präsenz kann er den Strafraum dominieren und dazu beitragen, dass der Gegner keine Chancen herausspielen kann. Aber er ist auch technisch versiert am Ball und findet auch in schwierigen Situationen sicher den richtigen Pass", said Johansson about the former ÖFB youth international.
