The Austrian swimmer Luka Mladenovic missed qualifying for the semifinal at the European Swimming Championships in the 100m breaststroke at his opening race.

Morning Session as the Stumbling Block

Mladenovic was eliminated in the morning session well below his capabilities. His preliminary time was not enough to break into the group of Europe's best athletes in this discipline. As a result, the hoped-for jump into the round of the last 16 on the continental stage remains denied to him in this event.

In the mixed zone, the 22-year-old appeared composed. „100 Meter Brust ist bei mir am Vormittag immer langsamer als am Nachmittag. Ich bin voll geschwommen, es hat aber leider nicht gereicht“, Mladenovic said after his appearance. He stressed that his rhythm only fully develops as the day progresses.
