Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for an end to the war against Ukraine during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi.
The Ukraine issue was the focus of a bilateral conversation held on the sidelines of international meetings in the Indian capital. Modi used the encounter with Putin to press clearly for a peace settlement in the conflict that has been raging for years, according to Indian government circles. India, which traditionally sees itself as a mediator between Russia and the West, views an end to the fighting as being in its own strategic interest.
