In Austria, the average annual milk yield per cow rose by 2.3 percent to 7,600 kilograms in 2025, as Statistik Austria reports.
Austria's domestic dairy sector developed "weitgehend stabil" in 2025, according to Statistik Austria. At the same time, a slight trend toward higher productivity per animal is evident: The average annual milk yield per cow rose by 2.3 percent to 7,600 kilograms. Overall, Austrian farms produced around 4.1 million tonnes of cow's milk – 1.5 percent more than the previous year.
The increase in total production is notable because the number of dairy cows in Austria continues to decline. Fewer animals thus delivered more milk – an effect attributed to breeding progress, optimized feeding, and improved husbandry conditions. 90.2 percent of the raw milk volume produced in Austria in 2025 was delivered to dairies and processing operations; the remainder was used directly on farms or marketed regionally.
