Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have recently increased according to data from the analytics firm Vortexa, reaching around 11.2 million barrels of crude oil per day on a weekly average.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important sea lanes because a significant share of global oil trade passes through this route between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. According to Vortexa, an average of 11.2 million barrels of crude oil currently pass through the strait per day on a weekly basis. These volumes are higher than levels seen during periods of heightened tension in the Gulf and point to a persistently high utilization of the route.
