Motorcycle getaway in Maria Lanzendorf: Police target eight bikers on the B11

Instead of stopping, one motorcyclist fled from the police. During the ride through several municipalities and districts, according to the press office's account, he built up increasingly higher speed excesses. The pursuit apparently extended over a longer distance and led through parts of Lower Austria.

Getaway across multiple districts

During the getaway, the motorcyclist left the roadway and caused a crash. The rider himself was injured in the fall, and according to the current state of the investigation, at least one other person was also injured. Rescue services brought the injured to hospitals; named were the Landesklinikum Baden (district of Baden) as well as the Universitätsklinikum Wiener Neustadt.

After the crash, the fleeing rider apparently did not continue his ride. According to the press office, he was subsequently arrested in the Schwechat area, located in the district of Bruck an der Leitha. The officers secured the motorcycle. No further details on the exact course of the crash and the severity of the injuries were known on Sunday.

During the pursuit, according to the authority's account, officers from the district of Bruck an der Leitha were also deployed. The fugitive's ride extended across multiple districts, with the exact route and the duration of the getaway being the subject of ongoing investigations. The identities of the other motorcyclists in the group are also being checked.

The press office emphasized that the investigations were still ongoing. It had not yet been conclusively clarified how many of the eight observed motorcycles were involved in the incidents and in what manner. There were also no confirmed findings regarding possible additional injured persons at the time of the release.

The police announced that they would fully clarify the incident and hold all those involved accountable. In addition to administrative penalties for excessive speed, the fleeing rider also faces criminal consequences due to the crash with injuries. The B11 itself is considered a heavily traveled connecting road in the region around Vienna.

The exact crash site as well as possible traces on the emergency vehicles and on the motorcycle are still being examined criminologically, according to the press office. Experts are to reconstruct at what speed the fugitive was traveling. Until the completion of this work, no further information will be provided.

Observers pointed out that the B11 between Vienna and the district of Bruck an der Leitha is repeatedly the scene of illegal street races and speeding. Just in the past months, there have been repeated serious motorcycle accidents on Lower Austrian state roads in which uninvolved road users were also harmed.

The authorities called again on Sunday for greater caution and discipline in road traffic. Particularly in the evening and nighttime hours as well as on weekends, increased attention is required on heavily traveled routes such as the B11.
