Motorcyclist seriously injured on B72 in Krieglach – helicopter deployed

Course of the accident

The Krieglach Volunteer Fire Department stated that it was deployed with four vehicles and 17 emergency personnel. The B72 was completely closed in both directions between 11:36 a.m. and 1:19 p.m. for the duration of the rescue and recovery operations.

The exact sequence of events and the question of fault are now being investigated by the police. Regarding the possible property damage and the suspected cause of the accident, the emergency services initially provided no further details.

Police investigations

Since no breathalyzer test could be carried out on the motorcyclist, the exact condition of the 54-year-old at the time of the accident remains the subject of the ongoing investigation. The question of the speed at which the two vehicles were traveling at the time of the collision has also not yet been conclusively clarified.

The section of the B72 in the locality of Alpl is a heavily traveled federal highway. Turning maneuvers from the Weizer Straße into side roads require special attention, particularly when motorcycles and cars are approaching from opposite directions.

The police appealed in this context to all road users to always pay attention to other vehicles when overtaking and turning. Especially on federal highways outside built-up areas, higher speeds are to be expected.

The condition of the 54-year-old motorcyclist was described by police as seriously injured. An official statement on the extent of the injuries or further medical treatment has not yet been issued.

According to the emergency services, the rescue chain from the scene of the accident to the hospital ran smoothly. The Christophorus 16 helicopter is regularly deployed in the region in serious traffic accidents and enables rapid transport to specialist clinics.
