The Munich-based drone and software manufacturer, founded in 2021, has raised $1.8 billion in one of the largest funding rounds to date for European start-ups and is now valued at $18 billion.
According to the company, the fresh financing is its largest to date and is described as one of the most extensive European investment rounds ever. Helsing was founded in 2021 in Munich and, according to its own figures, employs around 400 people. In its founding year of 2021, the start-up launched with a seed round of 100 million euros.
Capital for AI platforms and expansion
According to Helsing, the capital is to flow primarily into the further development of its own AI platforms as well as into expansion into additional countries. According to the company, known customers include the armed forces of Ukraine, Germany, and several European NATO states. The company builds drones as well as unmanned combat aircraft and delivers AI updates for systems already in service, such as the Eurofighter.
