The citizens of Hallbergmoos voted on Sunday in a referendum with 59 percent in favor of building a factory for the arms and drone manufacturer Helsing, thereby clearing the way for a three-digit million investment.
As several media outlets report consistently, the vote in the municipality northeast of Munich Airport was decisive: 59 percent of voters voted in favor of the project by the defense startup, 41 percent voted against. With this result, Helsing can build a factory on a site of approximately 250,000 square meters, where the company intends to significantly expand its drone production.
According to the information available, the planned investment amounts to a three-digit million figure in euros. In an initial phase, around 120,000 square meters of the site are to be developed. The facility is designed as a center for defense technology and is expected to create more than 300 new jobs in the municipality, according to current information.
