The public prosecutor's office in Zweibrücken announced a murder charge against a 26-year-old man in connection with a deadly attack on a train conductor during a ticket inspection near Landstuhl, Rhineland-Palatinate, in early February 2026.

The accused allegedly struck the train attendant multiple times after being asked to leave the regional train traveling from Landstuhl toward Homburg on 2 February 2026. The conductor, identified as Serkan Çalar from Ludwigshafen, fell unconscious while the perpetrator sat back down in his seat.

Two days after the attack, on 4 February 2026, the victim succumbed to severe head injuries. The cause of death was determined to be a cerebral hemorrhage resulting from the blows.
