Video streaming market leader Netflix increased its revenue by 13 percent to $12.56 billion in the past quarter and is using artificial intelligence in around 300 titles this year to generate crowds and historical battle scenes.
At video streaming market leader Netflix, artificial intelligence was used in around 300 titles in this year alone. For example, AI is used to generate crowds or scenes of historical battles, co-CEO Ted Sarandos told analysts. He also stressed that the technology is merely a tool in the hands of creative people: "Filme werden von Leuten gemacht, die Filme machen."
Sarandos pointed out that many of these scene fragments would not have been filmed at all without the use of AI, for cost or time reasons. Netflix is embracing artificial intelligence to enable scenes that would otherwise be too expensive. The company views the technology as a means of preserving production budgets while simultaneously delivering more visually elaborate content.
