Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed the rescue of 308 Nigerian citizens who had previously been abducted in various attacks in the states of Niger and Kwara.

The rescue of the hostages was announced on Tuesday evening by Bayo Onanuga. Onanuga stated that Tinubu emphatically welcomes the successful operation and honors the commitment of the security forces involved. Those who had been kidnapped were freed from the control of their captors in coordinated operations.

The abductions had spanned multiple incidents in the two northwestern Nigerian states. Armed groups had kidnapped the victims from various locations, including the town of Woro. Ransoms had previously been demanded for some of the hostages, according to investigations.
