A significant round of job cuts is emerging at the Munich-based mobile provider O2 Telefónica. According to informed circles, the company wants to eliminate more than 1,000 of its recently reported 6,820 jobs in Germany. This would mean roughly one in six positions disappearing this year. The German subsidiary of the Spanish telecommunications group Telefónica has so far not confirmed the extent of the cuts, but stated that it is examining "various measures" to secure long-term competitiveness.
