The search for a new CEO for the state holding company ÖBAG has entered its decisive phase, as the candidate list for the succession of Hlawati takes shape.
The state-owned holding company ÖBAG is preparing the succession at the top after the previous incumbent Hlawati has left the company. According to information from supervisory board circles, the selection process is well advanced, and a decision on the new leadership of the holding company — which includes stakes in OMV, Telekom Austria, and Casinos Austria — is expected in the coming weeks.
At the center of interest is the question of what profile ÖBAG should enter its next phase with. The state holding is one of the country's largest investment companies and bundles the federal government's strategic participations in companies such as OMV, Telekom Austria, and Casinos Austria. A new appointment is therefore considered politically sensitive, as it also co-determines the direction of the industrial policy strategy.
