A draft law for the restructuring of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has entered political coordination, as confirmed by sources at the Transport Ministry on Wednesday.
The reform is intended to reorganize the structures of ÖBB Holding, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, and other parts of the group. The goal is a clearer organizational structure and more efficient decision-making pathways within the state-owned company, according to the ministry.
From the ministry's perspective, the central aim is ultimately a better and more reliable service for passengers and customers. Transport Minister Peter Hanke had repeatedly emphasized this benchmark as the guiding principle of the reform in recent weeks.
