Sölden, 30 August 2026
At the Ötztaler Cycling Marathon on Sunday in Sölden, organizers expect a largely dry race day according to the forecast; at the same time, residents and travelers must reckon with road closures and adjustments to public transport.
The Ötztaler Cycling Marathon is one of the most demanding cycling marathons in the Alpine region and traditionally takes riders over several high passes. Start and finish are in Sölden, with the route leading over, among others, the Kühtai, the Brenner, the Jaufen Pass, and the Timmelsjoch. Thousands of participants from Austria and abroad take to the start year after year.
For this year's edition, the weather forecast is favorable. "sagt die Prognose aktuell große Chancen auf einen trockenen Sonntag voraus. Die Regenwahrscheinlichkeit während des Rennens liegt im 10-Prozent-Bereich", according to organizer circles. This means conditions for the athletes remain manageable, even though the passes continue to be considered selective.
