20-year-old Slovenian Jakob Omrzel won the twelfth stage of the Vuelta a España, covering 166 kilometers from Vera up to the Calar Alto Observatory, while East Tyrolean Felix Gall once again lost time to overall leader Enric Mas on the climb.

At the Calar Alto, Omrzel, at 20 years, five months, and 13 days, entered the record books as the youngest Slovenian stage winner at a Grand Tour, displacing Tadej Pogacar from that list. According to statistics, he is also the youngest stage winner at one of the three Grand Tours since 1981. The Slovenian talent's second stage victory at this Vuelta underscores his exceptional status in the peloton.
